Crochet a basket  - 2 stand alone workshops

Skill Level : basic crochet experience

Spend a couple of hours crafting a beautiful  basket for your home.  Who would have thought that the crochet of granny squares can also be the crochet of a stand up basket?! You will make a good start on your basket and will learn the skills to carry on at home....

Beginners Combined Knitting and Crochet Course - 4 stand alone workshops

This stand-alone 2 hour workshop is perfect for complete beginners or anyone needing a bit of a refresher.  If you are unsure whether it is for you, do pop in for a chat!

Bespoke Classes 


If you and some friends fancy learning crochet or knitting, or indeed one of our other courses together, we will try to arrange a date and time to suit you.  If you all wanted to learn to make a particular item, we could talk about that. 


We could run your course at the shop, or in someone's house if preferred.  There would need to be a minimum of 5 of you, the cost would be £25.00 each and would run along similar lines to our courses at the shop.

Paper Fold Flowers

Have you ever tried paper folding?  It's fun and nothing beats the feeling when you make that last fold and it all comes together and you think "I made that?"!
These paper flowers will do just that.  Come along and spend a few hours making these to brighten up your room/house/desk.  They don't need any

watering, will never die and will look as lovely after a couple of months

as they did the day you made them!​….

Beginners Introduction to Tapestry - 2 stand alone courses

Come along and while away 2 hours in the twinkling of an eye, as you get the opportunity to learn how to work your own tapestry.  Sarah will lead this workshop having done tapestries for many years.  The Granary Crafts window in February had a number of her samples, some of which there will be to look at for inspiration/interest.  The tapestry you do will not need a tapestry frame to complete it, so it is a very portable craft - perfect for taxi drivers who have to wait for children to come out of various activities!

Dorset Button Making

Why not master the gentle art of making Dorset buttons, they can add interest to an outfit - whether home made or shop bought!  . We welcome another new tutor to Granary Crafts, Wendy Armitage.  Wendy has been crafting for over 30 years, first picking up yarn and fabric as a young child.  She loves trying new techniques and crafts, but her main loves are yarn and paper.  

Crochet a Rag Rug

​Don't throw away or give away old sheets and duvets -turn them into totally original rugs (or even baskets!)….Why not join us and we will show you how to crochet a rug using your old duvet—it’s a fantastic way to recycle (and get rid of tension), gives you something to do whilst watching the television in the evening and will feed your soul with enjoyment at having made something so brilliant!

Sarah's Surgery (really Jo's Surgery but Sarah's Surgery rolls off the tongue well!)

We all have those moments when a pattern doesn't make any sense at all and we are at our wits end!  Here is Jo having one of those moments (..but she took the patterns away from the course to work it out!)  If you current knitting/crochet project is causing you to have a Harrison Headache, do come along to Sarah's Surgery.  You will be most welcome to pop in, share your problem, have a cuppa and a piece of cake, then leave hopefully, with the solution.

Intermediate Crochet - Colour Pooling

You may have read or heard about the new trend for planned pooling
and Stylecraft is the first of the brands to embrace this fashion with new
yarn "Colour Pool", which is 100% acrylic and anti-pilling, where Argyll-style patterns magically appear when you crochet.  The yarn can also be used as a normal knitting yarn and you will get a delightfully random colour effect...

Crochet a magic lanterns blanket

Join us to make this amazing looking blanket/shawl/wrap! This
beautiful and unusual blanket has been created by Jane Crowfoot. 
Like her other designs, this beautiful design has been inspired by Jane’s fascination with the tessellating shapes found in Moroccan architecture and design, and this stunning afghan certainly has a dream-like quality about it, with hints of the Arabian Nights.

Knit and crochet flowers

In this workshop, Jo will teach the crocheted flowers and Sarah will teach the knitted ones.  Join us to create a wreath similar to this one or use the individual flowers to adorn different things - teacosies, presents, hats...the list is endless!


Crochet some summer bunting

Date and Time : Monday 15th July 7.00 – 9.00pm
One of our new tutors, the lovely Laura Crombie is going to lead our
bunting workshop.  It is very effective and you will be able to choose
your own colours from yarn in the shop.  Join us for this great new
creative workshop, you will be able to make a few bunting flags and
then go home with the skills to create the rest. Once made, it can
be decorated with crocheted flowers or whatever your heart desires!

Fabric Flowers - 2 stand alone courses
